Sonic Walks

These walks have taken place in many different locations by request. If you would like to take the walk in Lancaster, you can purchase a booklet for £3 and explore it on your own or with friends. If you would prefer a guided group walk, please check the Dates page on this website for upcoming sessions.

The Lancaster Sonic Walk is a health and well-being initiative for all ages, created by In Tune, a music and well-being company based at The Storey.

Starting and finishing at The Storey, the Sound Trail is a three-quarter-mile walk around the city of Lancaster in search of different sounds. The walk takes between 45 minutes and one and a half hours. Along the route, you will be guided to various locations where you will be given sound-related tasks (see the map on the back of the booklet). Like a detective, you will explore different ways of listening to the sounds around you and investigate your own responses to what you hear.

Research has shown that sound plays an important role in shaping our well-being. Through increased awareness of sound, we can learn how to relate to it more effectively, both the sounds we enjoy and those we find challenging. This can help reduce stress and enrich the quality of our lives.

This enjoyable yet profound sound journey offers a new way to explore Lancaster and may also lead to unexpected insights about everyday life.

The cost of the booklet is £3. If you are attending as a couple or as part of a group, we recommend purchasing one booklet per person, as the trail becomes more engaging when you can share your experiences and discoveries with others.
